Find the way out for hazardous waste in Nantong
Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), as one of the first approved and established national economic and technological development zones in China, has now evolved to six industry clusters after years of development, i.e., modern equipment manufacturing, new materials, fine chemicals, new medicine, new energy and modern services. Many sectors in NETDA has reached the world advanced level in terms of technological level and manufacturing capacity.
However, what accompanies industrial development is inevitably the production of industrial waste, including a considerable number of hazardous waste being corrosive, flammable, toxic, etc. Therefore, Nantong is badly in need of a modernized high-standard hazardous waste treatment facility to minimize the industrial risks, promote further environmental improvement and development of green low-carbon economy.
Nantong hazardous waste treatment
Nantong hazardous waste treatment is the largest individual installation of shredding & mixing hazardous waste incineration in Jiangsu Province, of which the annual treatment capacity reaches 30,000 tons/ year as to the first phase, and will achieve 60,000 tons/year when the second phase is completed.
The project complies with stringent emission standards to minimize the environmental impacts, for example, the off-gas meets the EU emission standard, accepting 24-hour on-line monitoring by Environmental Protection Bureau of Jiangsu Province; the dust and ash residues upon incineration are specially treated and landfilled in carefully selected, monitored and qualified sites. In addition, the project is equipped with an energy recovery system, which makes use of the heat generated during incineration to produce steam to supply to the medical waste workshop and industrial enterprises of the park, saving 12,000 tons/year of standard coal.
