The portfolio of assets (ELES - Essent Local Energy Solutions) comprises 64 heating networks all over the country, spanning 1,950 kilometers, along with a number of RWE Generation Nederland's medium-size units and services. The networks serve more than 62,800 households and 1,240 business customers. ELES posted 2012 revenue of €135 million. The business will be owned by PGGM (80%), the country's second-biggest pension fund service provider, and Dalkia (20%).
The new networks supplement Dalkia's line of services in the Netherlands, which traditionally has included industrial utility management and energy services for buildings.
"The project enables Dalkia to step up its operations in the Netherlands, by becoming the third-largest operator of heating networks in the country, in partnership with PGGM. Our future customers will benefit from all the heating network management experience Dalkia has acquired in close to 35 countries. With only 8% of the Dutch population getting their heat via a network, the acquisition is a superb starting point for Dalkia's growth in the country."
Hildagarde McCarville, CEO of Dalkia Netherlands
