Veolia Asia H&S Seminar 2016: 5 Pillars of our OHS Culture

The 2016 Asia H&S Seminar was hosted by Veolia South Korea at the Industrial Technical & Training Center (ITTC) in Incheon from May 23rd to 25th, 2016. The event, under the theme of 5 Pillars of our OHS Culture, was attended by 60 participants from 8 countries and locations of different business lines of Veolia – Waste, Water and Energy. The 3-day seminar included OH&S update of the region, the Best Practices Achievement Award Ceremony; a speech by Dr. Kwon Hyuck-Myun, Director General of Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA); a workshop for the discussion of Sustainable OH&S Improvement; and site visits to SK hynix Cheongju and DH Recycling plants.

The seminar was kicked off by Mr. Daehee YUN, Environmental Safety and Health Manager of Veolia South Korea, as well as an opening speech by Mr. Guillaume CLISSON, Chief Performance Office of Veolia South Korea, and Mr. Frederic GOETZ, Director Occupational Health and Safety of Veolia. They gave an overview of the 5 Pillars and the objectives of the seminar – to align the OH&S practices across different Asian locations, to share good practices with one another, and for each of them to provide management with their OH&S insights down-to-top. Special guests Mr. Bruno FLORIT, General Manager of Industrial Services for Asia / China; Mr. Jean- Francois ROHARD, Chief Security Officer for Asia / China; and Mr. Kamal DATI, Security and Maintenance Manager for Asia / China; were invited to share a case study of a chemical manufacturer ; definition of Security, where Security and OH&S meet; and OH&S good practices in Veolia offices respectively.

The Health & Safety Best Practices Achievement Award Ceremony took place after each of the competition finalists presented their submitted Best Practices. The competition was divided into 5 award categories according to the 5 pillars, which every category can have none or more than one silver and gold medal winners.
