Guangdong Hazardous Waste Comprehensive Treatment Demonstration Center Phase I project (Huizhou) is one of the 31 hazardous waste comprehensive treatment centers listed in the “Construction Program for Hazardous Waste and Medical Waste Treatment Facilities in China”. The Centre is the start-up project of the five hazardous waste treatment centers listed in “The Tenth Five-Year Environmental Protection Plan of Guangdong Province”. This is the first large-scale treatment and demonstration project constructed by Guangdong Environmental Protection Bureau.

Huizhou Dongjiang Veolia Environmental Services Co., Ltd was founded in 2005 by Veolia and his Chinese partner. The joint venture is responsible for investment, design, construction and operation of the Demonstration Center (Phase I).

The main treatment methods of the Center (Phase I) include incineration, stabilization/ solidification and safety landfill, physical/chemical treatment. Of the 49 types of hazardous wastes defined by the Chinese regulation, the center treats 45 types except the HW01 medical waste, HW 10 PCBs, HW15 explosive waste and HW29 mercury waste. Its annual capacity is 83,000 tons including 10,000 tons by incineration, 33,000 tons by physical-chemical treatment and 40,000 tons by landfilling.

The second Phase of the project will include one incinerator with its supporting facilities of an annual capacity of 30,000 tons. The trial operation of Phase 2 project is expected to begin on 30 June 2017.

Chemical Waste Treatment Facilities
Chemical Waste Treatment Facilities
The Chemical Waste Treatment Facilities (CWTF) is the only chemical waste treatment facility in Hong Kong. Being one of the most comprehensive and sophisticated hazardous waste treatment facilities in Asia, it is designed and operated according to very stringent international environmental and safety standards.
