Veolia has constructed the largest sludge treatment plant in the world in Hong Kong
Matthias Fekl, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, and Antoine Frérot, Veolia CEO, opened the largest sewage sludge treatment plant in the world at Hong Kong today. This plant has its own independent water and energy supplies, and treats sludge from eleven sewage stations in the region, covering 7.2 million inhabitants. The plant combines urban ecology and lifestyle, not to mention exceptional architecture.
Landfill-Gas-to-Energy
Landfill gas is a mix of methane and carbon dioxide. Methane is a flammable toxic greenhouse gas twenty times more damaging to the climate than carbon dioxide. Instead of going into the atmosphere and becoming a greenhouse gas which is harmful to the environment, it can be collected in every landfill and used to produce renewable energy.

COP21: Veolia campaigns for a low-carbon economy
With just 200 days to the COP21, the heads of companies from all over the world are responding to the appeal made by the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, asking the private sector to play an active role for the climate. They came to the Business & Climate Summit held at Unesco in Paris and with one voice called for an ambitious agreement to be made between governments to limit the temperature increase to 2°C when they meet in Paris in December. During a session on innovation, the CEO of Veolia, Antoine Frérot, talked about the key role Veolia could have in implementing a low-carbon economy.
