Health and Safety in Action: Operational Level Activities
Health & Safety Focus at the Top: Policy Setting
Occupational Health & Safety Culture at Veolia
Veolia places the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) of its employees at the heart of its values. Fully committed to achieving zero workplace accidents, Veolia adopts the
Five Pillars of OH&S Culture
to ensure a company-wide focus on health and safety:
Emergency Response and Safety Risk Control
With the rapid urbanization, the environmental-friendly service demands of industrial customers and parks increase accordingly. With the professional and comprehensive hazardous waste treatment and industrial service experiences, Veolia can provide emergency support and risk assessment and becomes the emergency and risk control center for the city and industrial park.
Decommissioning
Veolia dismantles oil and gas platforms, ships, airplanes and industrial facilities in accordance with international environmental laws while safely recovering all recyclable materials.
Energy Management
In-Situ Thermal Desorption
The thermal desorption technology is applicable for removing volatile or semi-volatile organic contaminants. Veolia introduces thermal conductivity heating (TCH) whose temperature is higher than electrical resistance heating (ERH) and steam enhanced extraction (SEE). The target temperature is above 500 ℃, which is able to efficiently heat up intermediate to low permeability soil, also is insensible to geological inhomogeneity.
Ex-situ Indirect Thermal Desorption
The indirect thermal desorption is an ex-situ remediation technology suitable for eliminating volatile/semi-volatile organic compounds. Compared to the direct heating process, indirect heating does not destroy the contaminants (oxidation, decomposition) and the soil can be re-used post remediation.
Soil Washing
The current technology of remediating heavy metal contaminated soil is limited to stabilization or solidification in China without actually separating the contaminants from soil particles. Veolia introduces international robust soil washing technology and professional experts, applies co-mingled technology according to specific soil characteristics, which provides the sufficient conditions to meet the remediation targets.
